Hello ! Welcome to my little space here….
Although my nickname is ‘Big Marc’, my real name is Marc Lavallee, the nickname was given to me at one of the first gyms I trained at, and it kind of stuck !
I was born and raised on the south shore of Montreal (Canada).
My childhood ‘hero’ was the Incredible Hulk. I would never miss a TV episode. I dreamed of being huge and muscular.
The funny thing is that I hated physical education as a child, and was never much interested in team sports in high school either. Then I bought my 1st weight set when I was 14. Then came the weight room during lunch in high school…and I never looked back, I was HOOKED.
I joined a gym at the age of 18, and even had 2 gym memberships while in university, so as to be sure to get my workouts in, sometimes between classes. Needless to say I stuck out like a sore thumb in engineering, amidst a ‘sea’ of more nerdy looking students.
I actually chose a sedentary job (mechanical engineer) so as to have as much energy as possible to train. With the Engineering job, came the better income, and this allowed me to buy more supplements, as well as more (and better quality) food ! The significant muscular gains followed and soon people were always asking me when was my next competition, even though I had never competed, NOR did I want to.
Yes, I am hardcore. I view myself as a Gym Warrior, and I give it all I have ALL the time. If I step into the gym, it’s to give no less than 100% effort.
I live for the iron, the pump, the pain, the sacrifices, the challenge of continuously improving. I also enjoy introducing people to the ‘sport’ of bodybuilding, helping them with exercise and nutrition etc.
The human body is amazing, and getting to be the master of your own body, molding it as you desire (through specific exercise and adjusted nutrition and supplementation),….is the most incredible feeling.
Train Hard !!
Age: Stopped counting ; )
City / Province / Country: Brossard / Quebec / Canada
Profession: Mechanical Engineer. (occasionally do some personal training, and a bit of acting)
Experience in the sport: Almost 20 years.
Goals & Ambitions: Keep improving my physique, continue being a sort of ‘ambassador’ for the bodybuilding lifestyle, and maybe participating in my 1st competition in 2010 (so that people finally STOP bugging me about that, lol )
Advice for beginners: To avoid wasted time, and even worse, possible injuries, seek the guidance of a personal trainer or someone very advanced, to make sure you perform exercises well, eat well, and put together a sound training program which takes into account your goals / weaknesses / strong points etc.
Bodybuilding is a life-long (well almost) mission, so be patient, enjoy the ‘ride’.
